School Wall Racing's Semifinals Set for the 27th — Unbeaten Toyosu Tech Meets Lone Newcomer Konan Academy

As previously reported, the quarterfinals held on the 16th at the Kameido No. 2 Wall produced this round's four survivors from eight matches. Private Toyosu Tech beat Private Shinonome Industries 6-tier-3-link to 5-tier-4-link to extend its unbeaten run to six matches since the opener. Private Konan Academy, a first-time entrant, defeated Municipal Shiomi High 4-tier-2-link to 3-tier-3-link, becoming the only newcomer among this season's 62 debut schools to reach the semifinals. The remaining two spots went to Private Daiba Industrial, which won a close contest, and Municipal Ariake High, which pulled through on a late surge. The student federation formally announced the semifinal bracket on the 24th.

The bracket pairs Toyosu Tech against Konan Academy in the first match and Daiba Industrial against Ariake High in the second, both on the 27th at the Kameido No. 2 Wall. The pairing sets an unbeaten powerhouse directly against a first-year challenger that has fought its way this far. "The bracket draw is done mechanically," a federation official said, "but as it happens, this is the matchup that landed first."

Konan Academy is one of 62 first-time entrants this season and, as previously reported, beat Municipal Shiomi High in the quarterfinals on the 16th to become the sole newcomer to reach the semifinals. According to the federation, the club is still young and was among the 56 schools that took part in the previously reported "wall familiarization" session on Sept. 3. The team's unnamed third-year captain told this paper, "Toyosu Tech was the one team we least wanted to draw — which makes us all the more fired up."

As previously reported, Toyosu Tech has gone undefeated since the season opener, beating Konan Gakuen in the third round on the 13th and Shinonome Industries in the quarterfinals on the 16th, building its win streak to six. "The longer the streak goes, the more the fear grows that this could be the match it ends," one team member said. "We hear Konan Academy is a first-timer, but we know they've got momentum."

Daiba Industrial and Ariake High, in the other semifinal, both advanced through the quarterfinals on the 16th without drawing much attention, which the federation described as "an unflashy but steady climb." Both schools have reached the semifinals in past autumn qualifiers, giving them, among this round's four, some of the deepest tournament experience.

As previously reported, temporary spectator seating had already grown from 200 to 400 seats by the third round; the federation is now finalizing a further expansion ahead of the semifinals. No injuries have been reported at the tournament since the previously reported mandatory safety briefings took effect.

As previously reported, the two semifinal winners advance to the final in November, again at the Kameido No. 2 Wall. "Two matches remain in the autumn qualifiers," the federation said. "We hope to see walls climbed safely, and without regret."

The semifinals begin on the morning of the 27th at the Kameido No. 2 Wall. Start times and further details are expected to be announced soon.
