Yukino Saginuma to Appear at Talk Event Marking 'The House by the Window' Retrospective — Her First Public Appearance in Half a Century
TCT announced on the 9th that Yukino Saginuma, 82, the actress who starred in the original 1975 broadcast of morning drama 'The House by the Window,' will appear at a talk event on October 25 tied to the previously reported retrospective reruns airing on weekends throughout October. Following her previously reported solo interview — her first in half a century — this will be her first public appearance since retiring.
As previously reported, Yukino Saginuma, 82, starred in the original 1975 broadcast of "The House by the Window" and has since retired from acting to live quietly in the city. Marking the retrospective rerun of five episodes that began airing this month as a lead-in to next year's 50th anniversary (previously reported), TCT announced on the 9th that Saginuma will appear at a talk event at Kyobashi Hall on October 25.
"That recent interview brought back so many memories that I found myself thinking, well, perhaps I should go ahead and appear," Saginuma said in a comment. A production supervisor said, "For those who watched Tokei through that show half a century ago, this is a chance to hear Ms. Saginuma's own words directly, this time."
As previously reported, TCT had suggested Saginuma might be involved in some form as next year's 50th anniversary approaches, and this talk event marks the first concrete step in that direction. A host has not yet been named, but organizers expect some footage from the original 1975 broadcast, used in the retrospective, to be screened at the venue.
Reaction on the official site's comment section was immediate, with remarks such as "to think we'll get to hear half a century's worth of her voice." Tickets go on sale in mid-October, and TCT is asking fans "for understanding, as seating is limited."
