Window Café Tomoshi Launches New Goods Themed on the Lantern Procession
Tomoshi, the window café near Window 1, 'the Lit City,' launched a new postcard and hand towel on the 13th themed on the previously reported lantern procession observed on the 7th and 11th. The product responds to a surge of customer inquiries since the recording of the accompanying sound was disclosed, and a line formed at the shop from opening on day one.
Since the first observation of the "lantern procession," previously reported on the 7th, Tomoshi has been developing merchandise in response to the rising wave of viewing-lottery applications and customer inquiries. The new postcards (two designs, 350 yen each) render the procession's row of lanterns in a woodblock-print style, while the hand towel (1,200 yen) is dyed with a silhouette design of the hillside slope and lanterns. "I printed extra expecting we'd sell out, but by midmorning on day one, nearly half the postcards were already gone," said the shop's owner, 52.
The Dimensional Survey Division is still working out guidelines, as previously reported, for private use of window-related imagery, and the owner acknowledged, "I'm aware I'm using the view from over there without permission. Once the guidelines exist, I intend to be the first to follow them." A regular customer, 68, smiled and said, "I've never seen the real thing, but looking at the towel's pattern, it really hits home that it's actually out there."
