"Lullaby Manju" Goes on Sale as Memorial Day Promotion Pays Off
A long-established Japanese confectionery shop on Shiomibashi Street began selling its new "Lullaby Manju" on the 7th, timed to Arrival Remembrance Day. As with the previously reported unified lighting event, the shop kept a small light burning in its window through the evening.
As previously reported, a limited-edition sweet called "Lullaby Manju," prepared at the urging of the Shiomibashi Street shopping district association, went on sale on the morning of the 7th at a long-established confectionery shop. Ceremony-bound attendees and nearby residents formed a line from early morning, and the prepared stock sold out by early afternoon. Association chairman Tadao Tamura said, "It started from wondering if there was something we could do to mark the ceremony. I'm glad it sold out, but next year we'll prepare a bit more."
Following the previously reported unified lighting event for Autumn Window Day, member shops also kept a small light in their windows on the night of the ceremony. "Even with the origin unclear, I think that's the kind of thing that suits this shopping street," Tamura said, adding that he intends to keep developing products timed to the ceremony in years to come.
