Round 6 of the Tail-Tag student autumn league was held on the 1st at Kameido Second Gymnasium. As previously reported, Edagawa Metropolitan High School won three straight from September 14 through October 8, then suffered its only loss of the season on the 13th, falling 9-10 in a late comeback by first-time entrant Toyosu Metropolitan High School. Edagawa stopped a one-game slide with a rematch win over Shiodome Academy on the 22nd, and on the 1st faced Toyosu again.
Toyosu led 8-7 into the middle stretch, raising the prospect of a repeat of the 13th, but with under two minutes left Edagawa's defense snatched three strips in a row, pulling away to a 10-8 finish. Edagawa's captain (a third-year student, name withheld) said, "Last time we fell apart in that same stretch. Today we got it back in the same spot. It feels like we returned what we borrowed, right where we borrowed it."
Toyosu's captain (a third-year student, name withheld) reflected, "It became clear in the final stretch that they'd studied how we won last time. It's frustrating, but we also saw something to work on." The coach commented, "I knew staying unbeaten all season would be hard, but there's something to take even from a loss like today's." Edagawa moves to 5-1; Toyosu falls to 3-3.
