Yuki Shirase to Sing the Shore Lullaby Once, Live on Radio, Ahead of the 23rd
Broadcasting corporation Kyokai's radio arm will carry a one-time live broadcast on the night of the 20th of singer Yuki Shirase performing the Shore Lullaby, her official cover set to debut at the Sept. 23 Kishibe no Uta festival, this paper learned on the 17th. As previously reported, rehearsals have proceeded without any recordings, mouth to mouth, and her management office stressed this broadcast is not meant to leave behind a recorded version.
Kyokai's radio arm announced on the 17th that it will carry a live broadcast of Yuki Shirase's Shore Lullaby cover during a music program starting at 9 p.m. on the 20th. As previously reported, the song's transcriber, 74-year-old Ushio Kishiura, teaches by unrecorded, mouth-to-mouth rehearsal, and Shirase's management office reiterated that "this is strictly a live broadcast — there are no plans to release or archive it as a recording."
The program's producer said, "The very condition that you can only hear it once felt right for this song." As previously reported, advance tickets for the Sept. 23 festival have already sold out, and the broadcast is also meant as a courtesy to readers and listeners who won't be able to attend in person. Shirase's office commented, "Our approach to rehearsal hasn't changed from what's been previously reported. We're treating the broadcast as an extension of that practice."
Shirase continues rehearsing with Kishiura ahead of the 23rd. The broadcast will not be recorded, and no repeat airing is planned for anyone who misses it.
