Yume, On Location: I Tried the Breathing Thing in Front of a Window, Just to See
The fourth installment of 'Yume, On Location': after reading reporter Migiwa Tono's breathing-method column, Yume tries it herself by the window at Toshimado-Sabo — and gets caught by the owner.
I got to read Tono-san's breathing column early, in the newsroom chat, and honestly it was a fun read. Keeping it up for a whole month — I genuinely respect that. I'd forget by day three.
Anyway, I happened to be covering a story at Toshimado-Sabo, so I couldn't resist trying it myself — sneaking through the breathing thing at a window-side table. Open the window, breathe the air, that one. Except you can't open the windows inside the café, so I improvised by taking slow, deep sips of water instead. Weird workaround, I know.
Around the third round, eyes closed, the owner, Miyai-san, asked, "Are you all right, miss?" So embarrassing. At least I wasn't streaming. If I'd been live, the comments would've been a disaster zone.
In the end, nothing became visible, Window 1 didn't put on its lights, and it was just a tea break. But walking home, my head genuinely felt a little clearer, somehow. Tono-san's line — "didn't see anything, but the morning felt good" — I don't think that was a lie. For me it was more like, "didn't see anything, but it was pretty embarrassing." Close enough, I guess.
