But during his roughly 45-minute visit, the window did not open, and the King was unable to see the still stone city on the other side of the viewing glass. Two hours earlier, however, an ordinary public tour saw a roughly 12-minute opening, and the 80 citizens chosen by lottery that morning watched a procession of lights.
