Kishibe Seven's Shadow-Coverage Shoot Wraps — Final Edit Underway for the 18th
Bayside TV (BTV) announced on the 14th that it had completed its previously reported weeklong shadow-coverage shoot of all seven members of Kishibe Seven, and has moved into final editing ahead of the special broadcast on the 18th. A portion of the episode following the daily lives of Noa Kishiyanagi and Iroha Urahata was released in advance.
BTV said on the 14th that the previously reported weeklong shadow-coverage shoot of all seven Kishibe Seven members had wrapped on the 13th. The final day was filmed at a rehearsal studio ahead of the November 14 add-on concert, capturing all seven members checking new choreography together and chatting during breaks. The program's director said, "True to our original aim of capturing unscripted moments, it ended up being a week with no script at all."
As previously reported, the shoot includes an episode following the daily lives of the group's two members with Drifter traits — center Noa Kishiyanagi, 20, a third-generation Drifter, and Iroha Urahata, 19, a second-generation Drifter. On the 14th, BTV released roughly the first minute of this episode in advance on a special site. The clip shows Urahata grooming her tail in the car between venues while Kishiyanagi laughs and says, "You always use the same brush, don't you?" Urahata told this paper, "I think this was the episode that felt the least like being filmed. I just acted normal, and the normal Noa came through on camera." Kishiyanagi said, "I can talk more easily now than when we first decided not to hide the tail. The more people who watch, the fewer things I feel like I have to explain."
The week's footage, following each of the seven members in turn, included dance-lesson scenes, time in the car between venues, and glimpses of days off. A Shiosai Records representative said, "Over such a long shoot, the members themselves started to let their guard down more, and unscripted remarks came out more often. In editing, we want to keep as many of those moments as we can." Material that doesn't make the final broadcast may surface in some other form, the representative added.
On the 14th, the editing room was busy sorting through footage from all seven members to decide what makes the broadcast. According to the director, the episodes for the other members also captured plenty of moments never seen on stage — relearning choreography lyrics in the car between venues, fiddling with recording equipment at home on a day off. "Every member had moments that didn't end with just being 'one of the seven.' How much of that we can fit into the broadcast time comes down to the editing," the director said.
The advance clip drew a rush of traffic to the special site within hours of release, and Shiosai Records' official contact line fielded a string of requests to see the full episode "with the same relaxed feel." One fan, 26, said, "Shadow coverage tends to come out looking too posed, but this time the two of them really looked like themselves." The special, "Kishibe Seven: Seven Faces," is set to air on the 18th in BTV's previously reported broadcast slot.
