Kishibe Seven's New Single Gets a 30-Second Teaser — Tail Choreography Shown on Screen for the First Time

Shiosai Records released a 30-second teaser video for Kishibe Seven's new single "Ahead of the Light" on the morning of the 18th, via its official site and video channels. As previously reported, the song streams from midnight on the 20th and is set to make its live debut at the Sept. 23 Kishibe no Uta music festival. The teaser plays only brief snatches of vocals, devoting most of its runtime to the chorus choreography instead.

"We can't let people hear the full track yet," the producer said. "But we thought showing even part of the choreography first would build anticipation for the live stage on the 23rd."

The clip that drew the most reaction was the chorus choreography involving one of the group's tailed members, previously reported. At the Sept. 15 press event, the member had revealed, "There's a chorus move that uses my tail. It's quietly difficult" — and the teaser shows that exact moment for a few seconds.

Fans responded quickly online: "The tail really is part of the choreography." "Hearing the explanation about turning nervous movement into part of the dance made more sense once I saw it." The choreographer told this paper, "I think it came out exactly as we described at the press event — not hiding the member's physical trait, but building it into the song."

Center member Noa Kishiyanagi, 20, said, "I didn't expect this much reaction from just a teaser. The 23rd is outdoors, so the wind might change how the tail moves compared to usual. I hope people watch for that too." Having previously said the title reminded her of the Shore Lullaby, Kishiyanagi added, "I said before that the feeling of waiting for a light might be the same. But after seeing the choreography, I think it's not just a song about waiting — it's about waiting while swaying."

On the choice to show only a few seconds of the chorus, the choreographer said it was deliberate: "If we showed all of it, it would take away from the excitement of seeing it for the first time live on the 23rd." A stage director at the event said the outdoor lighting rig at Kishihama Park differs from a normal hall's, and that the team is considering a lighting-color change timed to the tail movement for the live show — a sign of new staging built around the festival's previously reported first outdoor run.

Other members not at the center of the choreography also weighed in. The group's oldest member laughed that she could tell immediately which take the staff had chosen for the teaser: "The moment I saw it, I knew they'd picked the cut where our expressions came out best. The staff gets it." Another member added, "Everyone's talking about the choreography, but the formation change right before the chorus has actually been reworked quite a bit too. I hope people watch for that at the live show."

As previously reported, the Sept. 23 Kishibe no Uta festival marks the event's first outdoor staging, with advance tickets already sold out. Yuki Shirase's official cover of the Shore Lullaby and rakugo performer Kishihachi's new piece "Madogei" are also on the bill. A label spokesperson said, "We deliberately timed the teaser to land right before Kishibe no Uta. We want people to enjoy it together with the energy of the venue."

Streaming and sales begin at midnight on the 20th. The label says the teaser has racked up the channel's fastest half-day view count of the month so far.
